What is Confident & Capable?
Confident & Capable is an online directory that helps families discover organisations, businesses, charities, community groups and other established providers offering programmes that help children and young people develop real-world skills.

Real-world skills support the holistic development of children and young people, helping them build confidence, independence and a strong foundation for life. They also develop practical skills they can use throughout education, careers, business, family life and relationships.

Confident & Capable is launching across Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest, with plans to expand into more areas as the directory grows.

Some providers operate locally, while others offer regional, national or online programmes.

You can search by location to find opportunities near you.

If we’re not in your area yet, you can sign up to be notified when Confident & Capable launches near you.

We feature organisations, businesses, charities, community groups and other established providers that help children and young people develop real-world skills through programmes in areas such as:

Each listing includes information to help you decide whether it may be suitable for your child.

Yes. You can filter by Home-Education Friendly using our Suitable For tags to find programmes suitable for home educated children.
Yes. You can filter by SEND-Friendly using our Suitable For tags to find programmes that may be suitable for children with additional needs.
Yes. You can filter by Faith-Integrated using our Suitable For tags to find providers that offer faith-integrated programmes.
Yes. You can filter by Online to find providers offering online programmes or virtual sessions.
Yes. You can filter by School Holidays to find holiday programmes, or After School to find after-school programmes.
Every child is different.

Providers often work with different age groups, experience levels and individual needs.

We encourage you to read each listing carefully and contact the provider directly if you have any questions before booking.

Trust & Safety
Every provider application is reviewed before a listing is published to ensure the information submitted is appropriate for the directory and that the programmes align with the purpose of Confident & Capable by helping children and young people develop real-world skills.

However, we are not an inspection or accreditation service.

We do not verify qualifications, DBS checks, safeguarding procedures or insurance.

Families should always carry out the checks they feel are appropriate before booking.
We do our best to keep listings accurate, but information can change.

If you notice something that appears to be incorrect or out of date, please let us know and we’ll review it.

If your organisation helps children develop real-world skills, we’d love to hear from you.

Simply complete our provider submission form or get in touch through our Contact page.
We currently offer free listings to all providers.

As Confident & Capable grows, we may introduce optional paid features, such as enhanced profiles or featured listings. Any optional paid services will always be clearly explained.
Yes.

If your programmes, contact details or other information change, simply contact us and we’ll update your listing.
We review every submission before publication.

We aim to review applications within up to 5 working days and will contact you if we need any additional information.
We only publish providers whose programmes align with the purpose of Confident & Capable.

If a submission isn’t the right fit for the directory, it won’t be published.

About Confident & Capable
All programmes featured on Confident & Capable are delivered by independent organisations.

If we ever organise our own programmes or events, they will be clearly identified as being delivered by Confident & Capable.

Bookings are made directly with the provider.

Our role is to help families discover opportunities and connect with organisations.
We welcome suggestions from families, educators and the wider community.
